Show and Tell

“by teaching, we learn”

Show and Tell gives our students the opportunity to demonstrate, explain and guide others to explore and learn.

Mrs Cullina’s 3rd class children took on the task of explaining how to make Oobleck to Junior and Senior Infants.

3rd class discussed how they would teach this lesson by piecing together their own lesson plan. There were many things for them to consider including: explaining solids, liquids and gases, grouping the infants to make Oobleck, cleaning up, discussing findings and recording their results.

Mr. Thornton’s Senior Infants had a wonderful time making Oobleck.

Senior Infants worked in groups with their 3rd class team leader to explore making Oobleck. They used pipettes to add water to their cornflour and checked the consistency each time. Squeezing the cornflour in their hands creates a solid and once it’s releases it will become a runny liquid again. It can be a challenge to get the consistency between cornflour and water just right!
